There really is nothing quite like a great burger. Juicy, cheesy goodness, completed with all the toppings you love—it’s a meal you can’t resist! No restaurant knows that better than Rosebud Steakhouse {192 East Walton Street, Chicago; 312.397.1000}. Their Classic Rosebud Burger is made with a 12-ounce prime beef patty on a pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles. It sounds simple, and that’s because it is! In this case of this award winning burger, simple is best.
Speaking of awards, this patty was “People’s Choice” at Hamburger Hop 2016, placed in the “Top 10 of Best Burgers by Groupon, and was even listed as the “Best Burger in the City” by Huffington Post. Basically, this classic burger is a big deal.

“Rosebud Steakhouse provides its guests with the absolute top quality meats and ingredients,” says Rosebud Steakhouse General Manager Joe Neis. “Nothing short of excellence is accepted in our kitchen down to the smallest detail. Our award winning prime burger is a perfect representation of attention to detail and quality ingredients utilized on a day to day basis at Rosebud Steakhouse.”

Although the Classic Rosebud Burger is pretty much perfect as it is, they also offer the opportunity to “build your own burger” by adding ingredients to the base. So you can get creative with your meal!

Other standout menu items include the Prime Flatiron with morel mushroom ragout and fried spinach, or any one of their pastas, which have been perfected down to the sauce for the last four decades.

If you want to make your own Rosebud-approved burger at home, their culinary team has their top three tips for a perfect burger as well:

  • Toast the bun for a nice crunch and to keep it from becoming soggy.
  • Cook the burger over direct heat.
  • Resist your urge to smash the burger down with a spatula. This forces out all the juices resulting in a flavorless and dry burger.
