Chicagoans with an empty calendar this weekend should have only one destination in mind: EXPO Chicago. While away the weekend hours and take in the sights from over 135 leading international exhibitors of contemporary and modern art. All in all, it’s a unique chance for Windy City natives to truly take in a side of the art world they might not otherwise see.
If art isn’t your jam, there is always the appeal of the amazing food! This year, EXPO CHICAGO also has major collaboration with Eataly {43 East Ohio Street, Chicago; 312.521.8700}. Throughout the exposition—which starts today and runs until Sunday, September 17—Eataly will create a special menu for all EXPO CHICAGO guests at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall {600 East Grand, Chicago}, both on the main exposition floor and in the Northern Trust VIP Collector’s Lounge.
“We are honored to partner with EXPO CHICAGO to offer a menu of artisanal dishes paired with a world-class art experience right here in Chicago,” said Eataly USA CEO Nicola Farinetti. “There are many similarities between food and art. Just as artists search for the highest quality tools and canvases, Eataly’s producers and artisans search for the highest quality ingredients. When you get to know your food or art, you start to understand the artists and how much labor and effort goes into making such a masterpiece.”
The EXPO CHICAGO menu will include an array of Italian specialties including housemade fresh mozzarella and focaccia, cured meats and artisanal cheeses from Italy and the US, housemade pastries, and a select menu of made-to-order dishes. Grab these delicacies and you can dig in while taking in the amazing art!
In addition, Eataly will host on-site activation events, including mozzarella and pasta making classes. Cheese-lovers also won’t want to miss when they open wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano DOP live on the show room floor. Get your caffeine fix in the main dining area, thanks to a coffee area by Lavazza serving Italian coffee and espresso, along with Eataly’s signature gelato.
“We are extremely proud that Eataly, the world-renowned culinary marketplace, has joined with us to elevate the dining experience for our patrons,” said EXPO CHICAGO President | Director Tony Karman. “We share Eataly’s manifesto of service, passion, and commitment to quality, and their exceptional food will both complement and enhance the experience of our visitors as they view and purchase artwork from the world’s leading art galleries.”
