The private dining experience at the Chicago Chop House {60 West Ontario Street, Chicago; 312.787.7100} is as unique as the restaurant itself. This classic Windy City restaurant is located in an old Victorian house that has all the old school glamour that steakhouses are known for. From the Ohio Room, which is perfect for a group dinner, to the Michigan Room, ideal for rehearsal dinners and intimate parties, there is something for everyone at Chicago Chop House.
Before you take a seat, Jean Vice, Operations Manager, has her favorite menu items, plus some of her most memorable events…
DiningOut Chicago: What first brought you to Chophouse?
Jean Vice: The restaurant is an icon! The quality and consistency has never changed.
What does your private dining experience offer to guests?
Our event space is unique because it doesn’t look or feel like a banquet room. When you dine privately with us, it’s like you are in your own dining room with high-quality service.
As a Chicago institution, how did the historical aspects of the space affect your dining spaces?
Our renovated Victorian Brownstone is one of a kind, dating back to the late 1800’s. Our restaurant holds over 1400 pictures of old Chicago—which even includes photos my grandfather—which tell the tale of Chicago. Each room tells a different story.
How does the private dining menu differ from the standard one?
It doesn’t, and that’s the beauty of it. Everything served in our private dining rooms is also found in our main menu. Although set menus are available, we also offer the option of ordering directly from our dinner menu. A set menu is never a requirement in our private spaces.
What are your favorite menu items?
The Ribeye paired with a great Bordeaux!
What is your favorite event you’ve ever hosted?
We had a couple that had a small wedding and dinner with us! The intimacy and The Great Gatsby theme really was amazing.
