January is the time to hit the reset button and plan for your best year ahead. For lots of Chicagoans, that includes participating in “Dry January” and not drinking until February 1st. Just because you aren’t drinking though, doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun. There are plenty of bars and restaurants serving up mocktails that are just as delicious as their alcoholic counterparts. Read on, and get ready to drink up!

River Roast {315 North LaSalle Drive; 312.822.0100}

Drink up riverside with River Roast’s mocktails from Beverage Director Ken Pritz. For the month of January, you can snag these booze-free cocktails for only $8. Highlights include Get Smashed, made with lemon, sage, ginger, hibiscus, and local honey soda. We also love their Sarsaparilla Sling of root beer essence, tonic syrup, molasses, and maple local soda. Or go classic with Dark Matter Chocolate City Nitro Cold Brew, perfect for brunch!

MAD Social {1140 West Madison Street; 312.243.2097}

The West Loop is the perfect place to celebrate the New Year. MAD Social, aside from having an amazing burger on the menu, also has delicious mocktails. The MAD Mocktail is a house favorite, made with mint leaves, jalapeño, ginger beer, lime juice, mint syrup, and a jalapeño garnish.

312 Chicago {136 North LaSalle Drive; 312.696.2420}

At 312 Chicago, you can make your own mocktail. Love the Skyline Negroni? Just ask, and the bartenders can shake it up, booze free. Check the menu for specialty mocktails as the menu rotates seasonally.

Bin 36 is usually all about wine, but this year the bar has added a list of rotating mocktails to the roster. You won’t find them on the menu, however. For foodies in the know, just ask the bartender to whip up something special.

Cindy’s {12 South Michigan Avenue; 312.792.3502}

One of the most sought-after rooftop spots in the city has an unmissable “Drop It Like It’s Not” mocktails menu. The Reanimator is a refreshing favorite with blueberry, ginger, demerara, lime, and activated charcoal. For those of us who are not participating in Dry January, feel free to add a shot of liquor or two. For more non-alcoholic options, Cindy’s also features kombucha, tea, and coffee.
