Inspired by breezy tropical days and carefree, rum-filled nights, Ronero is a little slice of the Caribbean with a lot of flare from Central and South America right in the heart of Chicago’s West Loop. The art-deco-meets-rustic-Colonial design creates a perfect Latin-American backdrop for a Latin-inspired menu. Enjoy empanadas while seated in a palm-frond painted banquette or indulge in arepas under the cross-hatched roof complete with golden palm tree chandeliers.
The charm of feeling like you’re on vacation while in the midst of a true urban jungle doesn’t end once your meal is finished, however. That’s just the beginning. The true fiesta kicks off after dinner once you’ve ventured upstairs to Esco Bar. A private entrance (available only on the weekends) reveals a secret, dimly lit staircase leading to a set of thick, mysterious drapes, that once pulled aside, unveils a rum-lined hallway. Only after this hallway will you emerge into the world of Colombian nightlife with live music, sexy skylights, and large format bar carts that will keep you drinking and salsa dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
The only disappointment you’ll experience is when leaving to go home, you’ll be reunited with the concrete of Randolph Street instead of the humid, salt-filled air of the very Caribbean beaches that just inspired your evening at Ronero.
