The Smoke Daddy

Russell Crowe once said, “I have respect for beer.”

We have to agree with The Gladiator himself—beer deserves our respect and admiration, especially on National Beer Day! April 7th is National Beer Day, so get ready to pull the tap back and down a few delicious brews with your pals. Chicago is known for its local breweries, but these bars and restaurants have beers from all over the world, just waiting for you.

The Smoke Daddy {1804 West Division Street, Chicago; 773.772.6656}

What goes better with beer than barbecue? The Smoke Daddy has some of our favorite barbecue in Chicago, and their combined menu of regular and rotating beers means you’ll never run out of options. Order some baby back ribs and your favorite brew, and get ready for a great night.

The Radler {2375 Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago; 773.276.0270}

For those who want to experience Oktoberfest without making the trip to Germany, The Radler is about as close as you can get. The German beer hall is the perfect spot to try new beers and you absolutely must pair whatever brew you choose with their epic hot pretzels. Plus, even though National Beer Day falls on a Saturday, you should also visit on Thursdays for Kolsch Night. They have $15 trays of Schlafly Beer every Thirsty Thursday.

Public House is the game day destination for any season or team. It has one of the largest sports screens in the country, spanning the length of the bar, which makes you feel like you’re on the field of play. If you don’t want to drink at the bar, they also have 10 booths with built-in table taps, with a choice of two customizable beer options as well as a liquor tap. The Beer Bistro {1061 West Madison Street, Chicago; 312.433.0013}

As the name would suggest, this is the spot to come for the holiday. To say they have an extensive list of bottles, cans, cider, and on tap beers is an understatement so bring a whole group! Their staff promises though that “despite our rotating selection of high-end beers, you’ll never be looked down upon for ordering a High Life.” So whether you’re a beer aficionado or a newbie, you will find something to love here.
