The Kerryman
May has come in with a bang this year, with lots of events and exciting food all happening in the first few days of the new month. The first up: Cinco de Mayo. This is an easy holiday to love, especially with the newly warm weather in our Windy City. Whether you love margaritas, tacos, guacamole, or all three…we have the best places to celebrate this Saturday!

The Pony Inn
Pioneer Tavern Group Trolley Crawl
Start celebrating early! Pioneer Tavern Group will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with their annual Trolley Crawl starting at 7 PM on Friday, May 4, running every 1/2 hour between Frontier, Lottie’s Pub, and The Pony Inn. This makes it easy to get to all your favorite bars in one evening, plus all participating bars will have specials. Some awesome menu items to look out for include Frontier’s Wild Game Tacos, as well as $3.50 Dos Equis and $6 Dobel Margaritas. The Kerryman will also offer $10 Patron Margaritas and Pork Tacos.

Carnivale {702 West Fulton Street, Chicago; 312.850.5005}
There will be no shortage of reasons to celebrate at Carnivale this weekend! From a Taco Platter to Hanger Steak with bacon, potato chile relleno, and sambal chimichurri, you won’t leave hungry. Plus there are plenty of cocktails like Casamigos Tequila Classic, as well as Pomegranate and Cucumber Margaritas. Add in a LIVE Mariachi Band, and you’ve got a great celebration ahead!

Mezcalina {333 East Benton Place #100, Chicago; 312.240.5000}
For a more upscale Cinco de Mayo experience, book a table at Mezcalina. Their myriad of flavors and unique ingredients make this the perfect spot for an in-holiday theme date night. Start with a tasting menu of their guacamoles or ceviches, then move on to Quesillo in Hoka Santa (cheese wrapped in Mexican pepper leaf). Pair any meal with one of their signature cocktails, like the classic Mezcalina Margarita!
The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile {540 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago; 312.836.0100}
For out-of-towners celebrating in Chicago, head to Rush Bar, located at The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile. They’ll be serving complimentary chips and guacamole in the lobby on Saturday, and have special prices on the house margarita and tacos from 11:30 AM to 11 PM. Start and end your day here!

Bar Takito {201 North Morgan Street, Chicago; 312.888.9602}
Bright colors and loud music. A super fun patio. Margarita flights. What more could you ask for? Bar Takito also has Mezcal flights plus a Seafood Paella that will knock your socks off. It’s the perfect place to come for cocktails, stay for dinner, and end up spending the whole night having the time of your life.
