In our Chicago food family, we stick together and support each other. It’s something we hear from chefs and owners time and time again, and it’s something that makes us unique. That’s why we are honored to continue this tradition of support, hometown love, and lots of good eating, by partnering with Boka Restaurant Group to benefit Mission Muscle Foundation this month.
From now through June 7, when you dine at restaurants like J. Parker, Girl & the Goat, and (of course) Boka, you’ll have the option of purchasing a special menu item or adding a donation to your bill. All donations will benefit Mission Muscle, a Chicago nonprofit creating awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, raising funds to advance research for a cure, and connecting families in the Chicago land area who are fighting the same battle.
One of those local families fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is Stephen Stoll’s. Stoll, the Director of Operations for Girl & the Goat, Little Goat, and Duck Duck Goat, and his wife, founded Mission Muscle after their son, Connor, was diagnosed with DMD. Proving once again that the hospitality industry is family, Stephen and Boka Restaurant Group are now receiving the support of their Chicago food friends, DiningOut included, to support a cause that is personal to all of us.
Stoll says, “We’re excited to be amplifying Mission Muscle May as a launching point for the nonprofit! It’s great to have so many awesome restaurants and chefs supporting this cause as valued partners. We’re really looking forward to the launch party event on May 23 and hope everyone will come out for a great evening!”
If you’d like to join in on the party, come support Mission Muscle with us on May 23 at Ovation Chicago. You can still by tickets HERE!
Once the party ends though, the eating will have just begun! You can still dine for Mission Muscle May through June 7.

More about Mission Muscle Foundation:
The Muscular Dystrophy Association defines Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) as a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness due to the absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact. DMD primarily affects boys, as the Duchenne gene is found on the X Chromosome, and most only survive into their late 20s. While there is currently no cure for the disease, the research and ongoing gene therapies are promising and provide great hope for those battling the disease.
