Did you know May is National BBQ Month? That, along with the fact that Memorial Day is coming this weekend, makes it the perfect time to visit some of Chicago’s best barbecue spots for lunch, brunch, dinner, and late-night bites. There really is no bad time for barbecue after all! Luckily, we have rounded up our Top 10 BBQ Bites for this month and all summer long. We made it easy… all you have to do is EAT!
- Smoke Daddy {1804 West Division Street; 773.772.6656} and their “Taste of the Daddy” platter with your choice of ribs plus two other smoked meats. (We recommend the burnt ends!) Check out their live music schedule to dine on the best day!
- Frontier {1072 North Milwaukee Avenue; 773.772.4322} and their Whole Farm Raised Pig. This is for barbecue-lovers who come in their comfy pants, and don’t mess around when it comes to their food.
- chicago q {1160 North Dearborn Street; 312.642.1160} and their Competition-Style Ribs. You can get them Baby Back or St. Louis style, but there is no wrong choice. Pair it with their Fried Green Tomatoes for a real win!
- Jake Melnick’s {41 East Superior Street; 312.266.0400} and their Jumbo Chicken Wings. Get them Traditional BBQ, Super Hot or event XXX (but only if you’re real brave!) This is a great spot for game days, and the kitchen is open late on weekends for extra hours of eating time.
- Maple & Ash {8 West Maple Street; 312.944.8888} and their Fire Roasted Seafood Tower. This isn’t traditional barbecue like you might think, but the smokey taste of fresh seafood is the perfect way to start a meal. Every bite roasted in their hearth and finished with garlic butter and chili oil. #nomz
- bellyq {400 West Randolph Street; 312.563.1010} and their Grill Tables. You can create your own barbecue—with help from the experts! Cook on your table top, and pair your entrée with amazing sides like Scallion Pancakes and Chilled Ramen Noodle Salad Tostada.
- Bandera {535 North Michigan Avenue; 312.644.3524} and their Seattle-Style BBQ Salmon. For a lighter take on barbecue, this is your best bet. But, if you’re feeling a bit more carnivorous, Bandera also has Baby Back Ribs, Roasted Chicken, and a Double Cut Pork Chop to dig into.
- El Che Bar {845 West Washington Boulevard; 312.265.1130} and their entire Asado Menu. From the Filet to the Parrillada (skirt steak with sweetbreads, chorizo, chimichurri, and salsa criolla), the entire menu is centered around the hearth.
- Fogo de Chão Steakhouse {661 North LaSalle Boulevard; 312.932.9330} and their Full Churrasco Experience at dinner. You will get the works, and be able to try a lot of Brazilian steakhouse and barbecue-influenced pieces all at once.
- Quiote {2456 North California Avenue; 312.878.8571} and their Pork Rib Carnitas. This spot takes the cake for upscale, creative Mexican cuisine. And they have a mezcal bar in the basement for after-dinner drinks!
