Beer flights are great and all, but that’s not the only thing that can come in flights! Why would you ever have only one of something that you love? Whether it’s wine, liquor, or even breakfast food….there’s a flight for that! Here are some of our favorite, more unique, flight opportunities throughout the city. Some of them are world famous, some of them you can create yourself, but all of them are delicious!
Sake Flights
Kamehachi {various locations}
We love a spot that has an entire page of their drink menu committed to sake. That means you know they’re experts in the craft—from the Hot Sake to the specialty Sochu Sake, plus a whole variety of classic sips from Japan. Whether you like yours clean, or rich and bold, the staff will work with you to line up a delicious tasting. The flight is not an official menu item, but you can create your own perfect combinations!
enso sushi & bar {1613 North Damen Avenue, Chicago; 773.878.8998}
At enso, they focus on doing what they do best: clean, delicious flavors with simple ingredients. Their sake menu hones in on chef favorites like the Dassai, which is a reserved sake that has hints of both cotton candy and lemonade flavors. Who knew you could get all those sweet flavors in one little sake sip?!
Breakfast Flights
Batter & Berries {2748 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago; 773.248.7710}
Come early and come often. Batter & Berries packs the people in, especially on the weekends, but any wait is worth it once you get inside. In addition to breakfast classics, they also have their “world famous” French Toast Flight! You get a sample of strawberry, blueberry, lemon, and caramel French toasts, all on one plate! This flavor combo has been tried, tested, and DiningOut approved.
yolk {various locations}
Create your own dream breakfast flight from the “Sweet Singles” menu, where you can choose a single pancake, slice of French toast, or other decadent breakfast sweet. The pancake of the month is always something exciting and delicious, so make sure to ask about it! You can also be a part of the yolk menu-creation process by heading to their new Test Kitchen in Wicker Park! They will test out new menu items before they head to yolks nationwide, and welcome customer feedback.
Wine Flights
Press Room {1134 West Washington Boulevard, Chicago; 331.240.1914}
Date night is handled at The Press Room. Their wine menu is straight up unreal, with pages upon pages of unique options. You can’t go wrong with any of them, but we love asking the staff for recommendations. They always have something new for you to try and enjoy! Then, ask them to line up a few glasses of wines similar to your favorite and expand your own personal wine list.
The Bristol {2152 North Damen Avenue, Chicago; 773.862.5555}
Come and get your rosé, Chicago! Monday through Friday, from 5:30-6:30pm, The Bristol has $6 snacks, $5 wines by the glass, and draft beer for $5! Plus, they just launched a Rosé Flight for $15, including Scarpetta, George Skouras, and Mont Gravet. It’s the perfect summer drink!
Whiskey Flights
Vol. 39 {39 South LaSalle Street, #200, Chicago; 312.604.9909}
American whiskey. Rye whiskey. Bourbon. World Whiskey. Scotch. Any kind of whiskey (or whisky) you could ever need, is all at Vol. 39. That, combined with their cozy, old-school atmosphere, makes this the perfect spot to while away the hours tasting whiskey.
