Top 10 Chicago Hotel Bars Worth a Stay - Rooftops, lounges, cocktail bars, and more...all within the city's favorite hotels

Chicago is a tourist hot spot all year long, but people flock to our amazing hometown most in the summer. Who can blame them? A lakefront. Lots of sunshine and street festivals. And, of course, not-to-miss patios and rooftop bars. To keep it simple, many of Chicago’s hotels have stepped up their bar game, so patrons don’t even have to leave the building to have a great time! Here are our summer hotel bar picks…

52Eighty at the Cambria Chicago Magnificent Mile {166 East Superior Street, Chicago; 312.787.6000}

Whether you’re in town for a big party, a professional dinner, or a wedding celebration, there’s no better backdrop than the Chicago Skyline. The rooftop of 52Eighty is perfect for a larger group event, and their team will work with you to make it the most exceptional night possible.

apogee at the dana hotel {2 West Erie Street, Chicago; 312.202.6060}

For your Instagram-loving guests, the cocktails at apogee are a must-try. Every item on the menu is stunning, delicious, and definitely worth a photo. Plus, a lot of them are made for groups, so you and your friends or family can all partake in the fun! We definitely recommend the Mr. Nice Guy for a group cocktail.

Streeterville Social at Loews Chicago {455 North Park Drive, Chicago; 312.840.6617}

The hotel’s rooftop is open all summer long, with specials like $5 featured rosé by the glass on #WeDrinkPink Wednesdays. There are plenty of ways to get #SeriouslySocial while you enjoy the summer! They also have spaces available for private events and rentals if you want to plan a larger gathering.

iO at The Godfrey {127 West Huron Street, Chicago; 312.374.1830}

Chicago’s largest indoor/outdoor rooftop has room for all kinds of fun in the sun! They have happy hour, themed party nights like “The Best of 80’s & 90’s Every Thursday,” and a one-of-a-kind weekend brunch under the sun. No matter when you stop in for a visit, they’ll have something fun all ready for you!

Cerise at Virgin Hotels Chicago {203 North Wabash Avenue, Chicago; 312.940.4400}

This ain’t your average rooftop! They do have delicious food items like ceviche, but it’s the cocktails, like sangria, margaritas or the Bourbon Mule, that you really want to stay for. They feature local DJs, and have a Camp Cerise weekend brunch that will give you a throw-back to your younger days with a “Dazed and Confused” theme and rosé  bar.

The Up Room at The Robey {2018 West North Avenue, Chicago; 872.315.3050}

While the Cabana Club on the 6th floor is also amazing, The Up Room is perfect for an out-of-town guest to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. On the 13th floor rooftop, with panoramic city views, it’s great for a date night or just to relax after a long day. Order the Duck Fried Rice cocktail (trust us) and enjoy.

NoMI Garden at the Park Hyatt Chicago {800 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago; 312.239.4030}

For pup lovers, this hotel bar and garden is dog-friendly! Definitely try their signature gNoMI cocktail while you savor the summer sun.  They also have a rotating chef’s table with a different focus every Thursday this summer! It’s the perfect time to try NoMI.

Torali Roof at the Ritz Carlton {160 East Pearson Street, 12th Floor, Chicago; 312.573.5160}

Start your meal at the Italian Steakhouse with a drink or two on their rooftop. The indoor bar is stunning as well, but who can beat $1 oysters during happy hour on a Chicago rooftop? No one can. Have a glass of wine or one of their signature cocktails, then head inside for a truly decadent late dinner.

Z Bar at The Peninsula Chicago {108 East Superior Street, Chicago; 312.337.2888}

Dubbed “Chicago’s most exquisite rooftop lounge,” no expense was spared at this newly updated hotel hot spot, making it perfect for the trendy Chicagoan or tourist. Global cuisine, hand-crafted cocktails, curated live music, and an unforgettable experience await.

Boleo at The Kimpton Gray {122 West Monroe Street, Chicago; 312.750.9007}

It’s a sad but true fact that it rains in summer sometimes. Luckily, with a retractable roof, the weather will never stop the party at Boleo! Located in the heart of the Loop, this is the perfect spot for after-work cocktails or entertaining that important client you need to impress. You’ll take a trip to Latin America with their authentic cuisine, colorful cocktails, and lively atmosphere. It’s like a mini trip!
