River Roast

Chicken is an ingredient used in countless ways in a wide range of dishes. You see it in soup, salad, and pasta. You can barbecue it on the grill, bake it in the oven, or deep-fry it. If you’re getting a Forrest Gump vibe, there’s a reason! There really is no bad way to make, or enjoy, chicken. And September just happens to be National Chicken Month! But there are only a few days left in the month…what to do? Don’t worry! These Chicago spots have delicious chicken dishes that you can enjoy long after September ends.

River Roast {315 North LaSalle Drive, Chicago; 312.822.0100}

Tableside-carved whole chicken. Need we say more? Okay we will. Applewood smoked potatoes. Stunning Chicago River views. Cocktails and mocktails abounding. River Roast is the perfect spot for chicken-lovers to enjoy a simple but delicious take on their favorite ingredient.

Jake Melnick’s {41 East Superior Street, Chicago; 312.266.0400}

Wings on wings on wings. All the wings at Jake Melnick’s, and there is no bad choice. From Traditional Buffalo to PB&J to Super Hot or even XXX. There is a chicken wing for every palate. You can come back again and again (and you should) to try them all.

The Publican {837 West Fulton Market, Chicago; 312.733.9555}

Publican is known for it’s expertise in meats, and their Farm Chicken is no different. You can get a whole chicken, but we recommend going with the half chicken so you leave room for the summer sausage and frites that come with it. It’s the best of the world of meat!

MAD Social {1140 West Madison Street, Chicago; 312.243.2097}

There is MAD variety here. Chicken & Waffles. Spiced Chicken Lollipops. Chopped Salad with chicken confit. Hit up this West Loop spot for all kinds of chicken-y goodness.

STK {9 West Kinzie Street, Chicago; 312.340.5636}

If you think STK is just about steak, then you haven’t tried their Roasted Chicken. It comes with heirloom bean salad, mustard greens, and a Caesar vinaigrette, and is a truly perfect fall dish. Add their Nueske’s Smoked Bacon appetizer as a side to win the day.

Carnivale {702 West Fulton Street, Chicago; 312.850.5005}

For a south-of-the-border take on chicken, the Peruvian Chicken is your choice. The marinated Amish chicken, served with roasted fingerling potatoes and huancaina, pairs perfectly with one of their sweet cocktails for an epic night out. Their brunchtime Chicken & Waffles are not to miss either!
