Treats, please! No tricks! Halloween is coming up and restaurants of all kinds are getting into the spirit in Chicago. We might be a little old for official trick-or-treating, but that’s not going to stop us from hitting multiple spots for parties, sweet treats, drink specials, and more over the weekend. Halloween isn’t just one day, it’s a whole season of celebration for the devilishly delicious parts of life.
West Town Bakery {various locations}
Cookies, cakes, and chocolate—oh my! West Town has all kinds of treats for the holiday, from skull-shaped baked goods to a (chocolate) coffin of bones. Don’t worry though, the only thing scary about these desserts is how dangerously good they are! Buy them now and enjoy for days to come.
Carnivale {702 West Fulton Street, Chicago; 312.850.5005}
You can also celebrate early at Carnivale. This Wednesday, Oct. 24, they have a special edition of their Carnivale University with a focus on Candy Cocktails. You’ll be able to impress all your party guests this weekend once you’ve perfected three candy-inspired cocktails from their master mixologist. You can still get your tickets now!
Apogee {Dana Hotel, 2 West Erie Street, Chicago; 312.202.6060}
Celebrate Halloween ’90s style at the Dana Hotel. Their rooftop bar, Apogee, is having a “Totally 90’s” dance party under the stars on Saturday, October 27, complete with a Kettle One and Don Julio sponsored bar. Get your tickets, or reserve a table, for a throwback night worth it’s weight in Hammer-pants gold.
Goddess & Grocer {various locations}
No spot celebrates the holidays quite like Goddess. Both Goddess & Grocer and its sister locations at Goddess & Baker already have all manners of seasonal and spooky treats available. Aside from highly Instagrammable cookies, cupcakes, and other desserts, they also offer Gingersnap Lattes, Autumn Spiced Nectar, and other drinks that pair perfectly with their sweets.
Enso Sushi & Bar {1613 North Damen Avenue, Chicago; 773.878.8998}
Even sushi restaurants are getting into the spooky spiri. Enso has Harry Potter-themed specials perfect for fall, including their own twist on“Butter Beer” and a Red Serpent Toro (above) that would make Tom Riddle proud. Lovers of the novel series will rejoice over this fun and unique twist on menu items that would be favorites even without the creative names.
Z Bar {The Peninsula Hotel Chicago, 108 East Superior Street, Chicago; 312.573.6888}
Z isn’t just for Z Bar anymore. Z is for Zombie at their themed Halloween bash on Saturday, Oct. 27, at The Peninsula. Sip on specialty cocktails, dance to the DJ, and for those lucky guests who don their Halloween best, you can win a series of special prizes including a stay at The Peninsula Chicago, dinner for two at Shanghai Terrace, and tickets to an upcoming Wanderlust: Cocktail Class Series at Z Bar. Join for a un-deadly good time!
Hubbard Inn {110 West Hubbard Street, Chicago; 312.222.1331}
“The 13 Days of Wizardry” are already happening at Hubbard Inn to honor everyone’s favorite witches and wizards. Through Halloween night, you can enjoy 13 days of themed parties, bottomless butter beer brunches, The Happy Hour That Must Not Be Named, a Muggle Movie Marathon, Triwizard Trivia, a Potions Mixology Class, and more. You can see tributes to Platform 9-3/4, the Great Hall, and even shops from Diagon Alley, like Gringotts and Ollivanders. What are you waiting for? Harry Potterheads, assemble!
