Have a Bright, Food-Filled Hanukkah in Chicago - Entertain or dine out in style this holiday season

There are so many reasons to celebrate this holiday season, not the least of which is the eight magical nights that make up Hanukkah. This holiday is full of light, family, giving thanks, and (of course) lots of good food. Whether you’re entertaining at home, welcoming guests into town for the final few nights, or are taking the family out to eat, we have the best spots in town. Happy Hanukkah, Chicago!

Claridge House Chicago Hotel {1244 North Dearborn Parkway, Chicago; 312.787.4980}

The Gold Coast neighborhood’s boutique hotel, which was renovated earlier this year, has a special “Our House…You’re Home” holiday rate. Their team is inviting family members and friends of Gold Coast residents to stay at the hotel over the holidays – in lieu of a family member’s couch. Comfort and coziness abound for guests, and make it a little easier on those hometown hosts.

For stays December 2-8 during Hanukkah, family and friends of Gold Coast residents can use the booking code “60610” to receive 25-percent off on their holiday stay at Claridge House (booking can be done via their website or telephone). If you have relatives coming in for the weekend, or just need a break from the ones currently bunking with you (we totally understand this sentiment), book them a room for the weekend.

Goddess and Grocer {various locations}

If you’re hosting the Hanukkah party this year and want to entertain to impress, Goddess has your back. Their Hanukkah catering menu is vast and delicious. Think everything from Matzo Ball Soup and Latkes to Braised Brisket, Kugel, and more. Plus, they have the best Hanukkah cupcakes around. Your relatives are sure to be impressed.

Bistronomic {840 North Wabash Avenue, Chicago; 312.944.8400}

Celebrate Hanukkah now through Monday, December 10, with a three-course, prix-fixe dinner menu for only $39. You can choose from three select appetizers, entrées, and desserts, making this perfect for larger groups with differing palates. It’s a great deal at one of the city’s warmest restaurants. The perfect place to escape the cold this Hanukkah.

Lettuce Entertain You {various restaurants and locations}

Lettuce Entertain You restaurants across Chicago have special Hanukkah treats and tasty menu items. Pick up baked goods like festive sugar cookies from chef-partner Yasmin Gutierrez at Beatrix. They’re perfect to have in the kitchen all Hanukkah long.

Or, take your family and friends out for Brown Butter Caramelized Apples Latkes, a family recipe from chef Ben Goodnick of Summer House Santa Monica and Stella Barra Pizzeria.  Summer House also has Sweet Potato Latkes with brown butter caramelized apples, Latkes with Nutella, Leek Latkes with Smoked Salmon, and a Latke Benedict Florentine.
