Love is in the air! Bars and restaurants throughout Chicago are getting in the romantic spirit this weekend to get a head start on celebrating Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re heading out on the town tonight, tomorrow, or not until Tuesday, we have the best places to wine and dine with your special someone…
Tortoise Supper Club
Since Valentine‘s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, Tortoise Supper Club {350 North State Street, Chicago; 312.755.1700} is offering specials starting today and all throughout the weekend. This year features two chef’s specials including Beef Wellington for Two a 12-ounce filet stuffed with wild mushroom and Foie Gras wrapped in puff pastry, served with grilled asparagus and finished with a black truffle port sauce. Guests can also choose the Pine Nut Crusted French Turbot served ontop of Maitake mushroom, baby artichoke, and asparagus ragout. On Valentine’s Day, there will be live jazz in the lounge from the Mark Burnell Trio with vocalist Anne Burnell starting at 7 pm. Make sure to order their February cocktail for a cause called The Roseanne Roseannadanna in support of Gilda’s Club Chicago. $3 from every cocktail sold goes directly to their charity.
The Blanchard
The Blanchard {1935 North Lincoln Park West, Chicago; 872.829.3971} is offering guests the full romantic treatment with a seven-course French prix-fixe menu on Valentine’s Day. Desserts include the Chocolate Hazelnut Pot de Crème followed by the chef’s selection of mignardises. Optional wine pairings are available for an additional fee.
