Rockit Bar & Grill

Beer is a drink for the ages. It doesn’t know season, trend or fad—it is always in style. People as far back as the ancient Greeks enjoyed a good brew. After all, it was the famous philosopher Plato who once said, “He was a wise man who invented beer.”

With that in mind, we are more than happy to celebrate National Beer Day on Friday, April 7 (and really every day before and after the official holiday). Since Chicago takes it’s beer seriously, you will want to make sure to celebrate at only the best spots. With that in mind, we have rounded up our top bars and restaurants to gather with friends and tip one back.

Bar Siena

You know you’re coming to the right place when a restaurant has their own signature beer ready on draft. Bar Siena {832 West Randolph Street, Chicago; 312).492.7775} in the West Loop serves a wide range of beer, be it in a bottle, can or from a tap. However, beer-lovers should be sure to try the Siena Draft, a Goose Island, Italian-style wheat beer you can only get in-house. Pair it with the Wisconsin Formaggi pizza made with 18 fontina, montamore, Dunbarton blue cheese, and fresno chilies, that partners perfectly with a cool beer.

Rockit Bar & Grill

If you’re someone who likes their options, there is no better spot to be for beer than Rockit Bar & Grill {22 West Hubbard Street, Chicago; 312.645.6000} in River North. With more than 20 beer options on tap alone, you can stick with an old favorite or try plenty of new flavors for the holiday. Still need to find your signature choice? They also offer beer flights of four so you can try out a wide range of their recommendations, or make your own flight. Cheers!

Decisions, decisions. Should you choose the Mexican Vienna Lager? Or the Chicago Belgian Strong Ale? Or mix it up with a can of Gluten-Free Cider? Luckily, Hubbard Inn {110 West Hubbard Street, Chicago; 312.222.1331} has them all, and then some! Grab some friends, or rent out one of their many specialty rooms, for a larger party to celebrate our favorite bar staple.

The Rabbit Hole

If you’re looking for a place for happy hour, The Rabbit Hole {1208 North Wells Street, Chicago; 312.274.1824} is it. A new addition to the Chicago food scene in 2016, this is a neighborhood spot themed around a grittier version of an Alice in Wonderland vibe. Every weekday from 4-6 pm, diners can take advantage of deals like $6 appetizers and (of course) $3 draft beers. If you like what you try for the holiday, come back on Wednesdays for $5 pints of Miller Lite … plus you get to keep the glass!

Boeufhaus

In French and German cuisine, alcohol is a key part of the meal. It enhances the taste, completes your experience, and in the case of Boeufhaus {1012 North Western Avenue, Chicago; 773.661.2116} gives you the full flavor of dishes like Shortrib Beignets, Burgundy Snails or Boeuf Fat Fries. The welcoming spot features a range beers, including a handful of Germany brews on draft, making it the perfect spot to try your new favorite beer.
