This year, Chef Paul Kahan’s flagship restaurant Blackbird celebrates its 20th birthday. Kahan and his Chef de Cuisine, Ryan Pfeiffer, have invited six chefs from around the country into their kitchen to each host a multi-course, collaborative meal for the “Blackbird at 20” dinner series.
As the third guest chef in the series, Sean Brock will bring his flavor of modern Southern cuisine to our big city in the Midwest. Owner of Husk restaurants in Charleston, Savannah, Nashville, and Greenville, Brock is passionate about Southern ingredients and has the accolades to prove it. He received the James Beard Award Best Chef: Southeast in 2010 and Bon Appétit named Husk “Best New Restaurant in America” in 2011.

It will not be the first time that Kahan and Brock collaborate—they first met at a Food & Wine dinner in Charleston, South Carolina, and have done a number of dinners together over the years. Brock’s knowledge and preservation of the food indigenous to the South makes him as much a historian as he is a chef, according to Kahan.
