Want to dine across the globe without taking a single flight? Want to taste some of the best in Chicago food without making a single reservation? Want to know the spot that tourists, commuters, and Chicago locals all frequent? For all of that, and more, you’ve got to visit The Chicago French Market. It is Chicago’s very first food hall dedicated to International cuisine, and in January, they will be celebrating 10 years as a part of the Windy City food scene.

If you haven’t been yet, this is a European-style indoor marketplace with more than 30 vendors offering fresh food, drinks, and even flowers that you can take on the go. The market is largely comprised of entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and accomplished purveyors. Who doesn’t love supporting local businesses?

They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Monday through Saturday, so they can take care of your foodie needs almost 24/7. There are Happy Hour specials, grab-and-go dishes, light snacks, picnic necessities, party planning products, plus fun and unique gifts. Want more? There is also live music and monthly special events (more on that below!)

Chicago French Market supports local farmers and artisans and brings back the European-inspired marketplace, providing customers with year-round, permanent access to a local brands.

Joker’s Cajun Kitchen

Some of those local brands include Chicago favorites like Saigon Sisters, Vanille Patisserie (because what would a French market be without macarons?), Polpetti Espresso Bar, Da Lobsta, as well as Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine.

They also had several new additions this summer and fall including Blue Spot Sushi (which has sushi burritos!), Joker’s Cajun Kitchen, Bang Chop Thai, and Chinese street food from Jianbing. In addition to these openings, French Market standards Wood Fire Counter, B.I Tea and Dim Sum, and The French Lunchbox have all added new items to their menus for the season.

Plus, they are also always hosting fun events with local restaurants and brands. Next week, their October event is all about cheese. In celebration of American Cheese Month, October is Wisconsin Cheese Month at Pastoral, and they’re bringing their cheese expertise to the French Market! On October 10, at 6:30pm, there will be a tasty class celebrating the all American cheeses of Wisconsin. The Pastoral cheese instructor will take your taste buds on a tour of Wisconsin, sampling six different styles of cheese that exemplify the best of what the dairy state has to offer (plus there will be wine). Get your tickets now, and keep an eye out for future events at Chicago French Market.

Whether you’re coming for a class, stopping by on your way in for the train, or taking an afternoon to explore unique cuisine from all over the world, Chicago French Market is the place to be.
