Chicago Steakhouses Go Italian - These hot spots put a special twist on classic steaks and chops

Chicago Italian doesn’t have to stop at pizza and pasta. There is so much more to love than that! Especially when it comes to steak. From rib-eyes to filets, steak has become an integral part of the menu at many Italian restaurants in the city. So, if you’re feeling a bit carnivorous, check out these spots for a little bit of Italian, a little bit of steakhouse, and a whole lot of goodness…

tesori {65 East Adams Street, Chicago; 312.786.9911}

For a combination of an upscale Italian restaurant and a stylish white-tablecloth steakhouse, it’s time to make a dinner reservation at tesori. There are lots of windows, so you won’t have the usual dark and moody steakhouse meal, and you can still enjoy classic steak dishes like Surf n’ Turf with lobster tail and a New York Strip Steak. Italian lovers can also dig into brick-oven pizza and housemade pasta. So, everyone wins!

Torali {The Ritz Carlton, 160 East Pearson Street 12th Floor, Chicago; 312.573.5160}

For the perfect date night, any foodie couple is going to find something to love at Torali. If you love wine and cocktails, their bar is beautiful and romantic. If you’re an Italian aficionado, their Linguine al Frutti di Mare and Risotto di Fungi with seasonal mushrooms are both an easy (and correct) choice. And of course, steak-lovers will drool over the Prime Bone-In 35-Day Dry Aged Ribeye and the American Wagyu Flat Iron. All those options are right off of Michigan Avenue, and in the opulent setting of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Date night perfection is close at hand!

Erie Cafe {536 West Erie Street, Chicago; 312.266.2300}

Classic Chicago steakhouse meets cozy dinner spot, plus riverside seating if you can wait until summer (who’s already counting down the days?) They only serve prime aged steaks and chops that were butchered on the premises so you know every bite will be perfection, from the Veal Chop to the T-Bone. Let’s dig in!

The Rosebud {1500 West Taylor Street, Chicago; 312.942.1117}

The OG of Italian steakhouses. This should be the spot to bring out-of-town guests, family in town, or have a celebration you won’t soon forget. Their 16 oz Prime Skirt Steak is a classic, but our favorite might just be the Lamb Chops Oreganato. Come with a group so you can try lots from both the steak and pasta menus!

La Cantina, Italian Village {71 West Monroe Street, Chicago; 312.332.7005}

If you haven’t ventured to the lowest level of Italian Village’s tower of deliciousness, now is the time. It has the vibe of a private wine cellar, and the food is served with the expertise that can only come from decades of excellence. This is the perfect excuse to visit a city staple for dishes like “Center Cut” Filet Mignon or Bone-In Ribeye. Plus, any of the steaks and chops can be served with extras like a Gorgonzola Crust or Marsala Mushroom Sauce.

BoeufHaus {1012 North Western Avenue, Chicago; 773.661.2116}

Though this is not a traditionally Italian spot, it was too good to leave off the list. From the 55-Day Dry Aged Ribeye to the Hanger Steak with potato gateau, shallot, and tarragon, there is no bad choice on the menu. Perfect for a date night or catch-up dinner with friends!
