Chicago’s ten best restaurants for some mid-day sightseeing.

The Signature Room

We spend so much of our daily lives in the same routines, wrapped up in work and life and all the stressors that come along. Why not take some time to break out of that routine, and appreciate our surroundings? Chicago spends so much of its life covered in clouds and slush; it can be easy to forget that Chicago is actually a beautiful, architectural city on the lake. We’ve rounded up our top-10 restaurants where you can enjoy lunch—or any meal for that matter—with a view. They will help you make the most of summer!

  • Althea {700 North Michigan Ave, Chicago; 312. 525.3400}: Take a break from a busy day of shopping and check out the trendy all-vegan restaurant from Matthew Kenny—featuring panoramic views of the Mag Mile.
  • NoMI Kitchen {800 North Michigan Ave, Chicago; 312.239.4030}: Sample menu items like Smoked Salmon Beignets and Roasted Lemon Chicken while studying the horizon. This is also an amazing place for a summer staycation!
  • FIG & OLIVE {104 East Oak Street, Chicago; 312.445.0060}: Now that the weather is finally warming up, it’s time to discover your new summer hangout—the Rosè Terrace at FIG & OLIVE. Small shared plates make it a great spot to go with a group.
  • Dutch & Doc’s {3600 North Clark Street, Chicago; 773.360.0207}: Looking for somewhere the whole family can enjoy? Head to Dutch & Doc’s where the picture-perfect views of Wrigley Field will impress all ages and baseball fans.
  • The Signature Room {875 North Michigan Ave, Chicago; 312.787.9596}: With stunning 360-degree views of the city, The Signature Room is the ideal spot to watch Navy Pier’s Fourth of July fireworks. Located on the 95th floor of the 875 N Michigan building (formerly known as the John Hancock Center), the Signature Room’s guests get a perfect view of the pier, along with the rest of Chicago.
  • Terrace 16 {401 North Wabash Avenue, Chicago; 312.588.8600}: Enjoy the lap of luxury at Trump Tower’s new Terrace 16, an upscale bar and lounge where the Chicago River views are enough to put anyone in a good mood.
  • River Roast {315 North LaSalle Drive, Chicago; 312.822.0100}: Like the name suggests, River Roast offers an experience—directly along the river. Take in the riverfront views while snacking on heart appetizers and a variety of cold brews. Check out their website for special events like their Blues Brunch and other fun summer specials.
  • Torali {160 East Pearson Street, Chicago; 312.573.5160}: A trendy downtown spot featuring Italian fare, craft cocktails, and a rooftop bar. What more could you ask for?
  • The Lobby at The Peninsula {108 East Superior Street, Chicago; 312.573.6695}: Twenty-foot, floor-to-ceiling windows line The Peninsula’s fine dining restaurant. Make sure to arrive first to your lunch date so you can get the seat facing the window! And be sure to check out Z Bar (also right in the hotel) for after-dinner drinks.
  • The Kitchen {316 North Clark Street, Chicago; 312.836.1300}: The riverside view is just one of many great features of this rustic-chic eatery with locally sourced ingredients and an open concept bar.
