The new school year is only a few weeks away—enjoy summer while it’s still here!

Yolk

The start of the new school year is quickly approaching—it’s already August after all! Celebrate the freedom of summer by granting the kids one more day or night out sans homework and after-school activities. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite local restaurants that the kids—and parents!—will love!

Yolk {Various locations, Chicago}: The kid’s menu at Yolk is so good it might make the adults feel a little jealous. On top of an already impressive menu of traditional and upscale breakfast items for adults, kids can choose from a variety of dishes, from S’mores Pancakes to French Toast Sticks.

Mable’s Table {1655 West Cortland Street, Chicago; 773.904.7433}: It’s rare that a restaurant has both kid-friendly options AND more sophisticated choices for the parents. Mable’s Table in Bucktown does just that with an extensive menu meeting the whole spectrum of choices from Salmon Tartare to Grilled Cheese. Hint: Get the French toast at brunch!

Antique Taco {various locations, Chicago}: The welcoming and energetic vibes at all of Antique Taco’s three locations make the perfect setting for a family affair. Mom and Dad can have the tacos with all the toppings and spice they want while the kids have the option of a more simplified version, like the Cheesy Quesadilla or Pork Carnitas Scout Taco. They also host a Kid’s Mart featuring kid vendors and fun and games for all ages!

Antique Taco Kid Fest

Politan Row {111 North Aberdeen Street, Chicago; 312.278.3040}: Politan Row is a food hall featuring a curated mix of local food and beverage talent, which means that there are plenty of options for the picky eaters in your family.  Plus, the West Loop location is perfect for stop in after a long day of sightseeing.

West Town Bakery {Various locations; Chicago}: This popular Chicago bakery makes sweets and treats that kiddos will gobble up before you can even appreciate how beautiful they are! All West Town baked goods are made sustainably and from local growers—and on top of that, the bakers will cater to any dietary restriction or allergy! You can also bring the bakery to you and order a cake for your next birthday party.

LYFE Kitchen

LYFE Kitchen {Various locations; Chicago}: Having a hard time getting your children to eat healthy? Just bring them to your nearest LYFE location and have them pick off the “Little Lyfers” menu made especially for them with delicious and good-for-you options, like Unfried Chicken Strips and Cheesy Gluten-Free Flatbread.

Stax Cafe {1401 North Clark Street, Chicago; 312.733.9871}: The kid’s menu at this family-friendly breakfast joint not only has exciting choices like Cakes for Cuties and Baked Mac n’ Cheeze, but plenty of games and coloring activities to keep the kiddos occupied all morning long.
