The international contemporary and modern art exhibition partners with the Chicago food world at Navy Pier Sept. 19-22
Art lovers and culture aficionados of all kinds: your favorite Chicago weekend is approaching — EXPO CHICAGO, The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art, is coming to Navy Pier from September 19-22. EXPO CHICAGO hosts more than 100 leading international exhibitors, plus a spread from some of Chicago’s top restaurants and chefs. It will be a weekend full of culture, including some of the city’s best food.
In its eighth year as a leading international art exposition, EXPO CHICAGO is once again delivering diverse programming and showcases for a celebration of worldwide art, exploration, and conversation, and we are thrilled to be partnering with them for another year!
“As we approach our eighth edition, we are extremely grateful for the longstanding and successful partnerships that we have developed with our sponsors,” says EXPO CHICAGO President/Director Tony Karman. “Their involvement is critical to our success and it is a distinct honor to collaborate with these illustrious brands and institutions as we share a deep commitment to supporting arts and culture.”
Art and culture, of course, are undoubtedly connected with the world of food. This is true everywhere, but especially in the ever-growing Chicago culinary scene. EXPO demonstrates that growth over the course of the weekend with their on-site dining partners Eataly and Hannah’s Bretzel.
Eataly will be featured at the EXPO VIP Collectors Lounge, presented by Northern Trust, which is open to all EXPO CHICAGO VIPs. The Lounge features daily panels focusing on contemporary discussion surrounding philanthropy, culture and the economy.
Aside from the artistic offerings, the Lounge will also feature a specialty menu from Eataly and Ruinart Champagne, which you can enjoy in a beautiful environment as the Lounge design was constructed in partnership with Suzanne Lovell Inc. and Converso Modern. Art and food will collide in a decadent experience as just one of the many things to look forward to over the course of the weekend.
But the food experience isn’t limited to the VIPs!
Beer lovers will rejoice over a a limited edition IPA from Chicago’s Pipeworks Brewing that will be sold all weekend long as well as a limited edition EXPO CHICAGO cold brew from Vinyl Cold Brew.
Plus, if you can’t make it into VIP Lounge, you can still pop the champagne! Outside of the Lounge, Ruinart Champagne will be serving Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and Ruinart Rosé on the event hall floor, where they will also show artwork from their latest collaboration with Brazilian artist, Vik Muniz. Ruinart Champagne will also be sold throughout the exposition. Champagne sips for one and all!
Belvedere Vodka will also serve specialty cocktails and celebrate voices in art with Janelle Monae’s “A Beautiful Future” initiative, displaying a limited-edition Belvedere Vodka bottle signed by Monae.
If food isn’t your main priority (we will forgive you), we can still recommend fun art and experiential presentations you won’t want to miss. EXPO is presented in alignment with the 2019 Chicago Architecture Biennial, which takes place from September 19, 2019–January 5, 2020. As part of that, EXPO Chicago has a very diverse program, including /Dialogues, which is presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. We love the support they bring to this Chicago staple and epicenter of art in our area. There will also dynamic on-site installations highlighting large-scale sculpture, and film, plus major public art initiatives outside of the event hall.
Overall, EXPO Chicago will be taking our city by storm next week in the best way possible. There is nothing better than food, art, and the love of Chicago coming together for a celebration of all the beauty of life. We can’t wait to see the exhibits, taste the food, and really celebrate EXPO for another year. You can still join us by getting tickets NOW.
We’ll see you at Navy Pier!
