The 12th annual Chicago Gourmet presented by Bon Appétit is set to take place next week, from September 24–29 at Millennium Park. Every year, more than 10,000 attendees descend upon the park grounds to enjoy a week-long celebration of all things food and dining. But there’s more going on than just food stalls and culinary demonstrations. Leading up to and throughout the festival weekend, guests can check out an impressive lineup of culinary-themed Encore Events from gourmet chili cook-offs to morning yoga and brunch sessions. Battle of the Masters at Swift & Sons
September 27, 12-2pm
Music, food, and wine converge at this competition where Master Sommeliers go head-to-head in a battle of the best wine and song pairing to complement the featured chef’s dish… and you will be the judge! The fan favorite will be crowned champion with all proceeds going towards the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.
“Take the Gun, Leave the Cannoli” Italian Feast at The Odyssey Chicago River
September 25, 7-10pm
Hop aboard the famous Odyssey cruise liner and enjoy a mobster-inspired Italian feast! The multi-course dinner will feature traditional Italian cuisine prepared by chefs Fabio Viviani, Tony Priolo, Carolina Diaz, and Federico Commachio, accompanied by specially curated wines from Alpana Singh.
Jef Comedy Jam at Theater on the Lake
September 26, 6-9pm
Enjoy dinner with a side of laughter at Jef Comedy Jam (get it?) on September 26. Hosted by celebrity chef and Chicago native, Jeff Mauro, and featuring acts like The Restaurant comedy group and comedian Kevin Farley, you might be laughing too hard to eat!

Late Night Gourmet at TAO Chicago
September 27, 9pm-12am
Sure the Chicago Gourmet’s Hamburger Hop is fun, but have you ever been to the afterparty? After 12 years of post-feast dancing, Late Night Gourmet has become a tradition among festival-goers. Mingle with Chicago’s top chefs, sommeliers, and taste-makers as you munch on tasty bites, sip on specialty cocktails, and dance the night away.
The Big Chill(i) Gourmet Chili Cook-Off at The Harris Theater Rooftop
September 28, 8-11pm
Chicago firefighters give professional chefs a run for their money at ultimate chili cook-off. Benefiting the 100 Club, which provides for families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty, this event is more than just a chili tasting session—it’s a way to honor those who risk their lives every day. Be sure to come hungry to this one!

Rise and Shine Gourmet at Chicago Athletic Association Hotel
September 29, 8:30-10:45am
Take a break from the late-night partying and fatty foods and stop in to this early morning restorative yoga session at the landmark Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. Stay after class for a delicious brunch spread and maybe a mimosa or two.
