The Lynn Sage Foundation is partnering with Chicago bars and restaurants to make a difference

BomboBar

Celebrating its 12th year, The Lynn Sage Foundation’s IN GOOD TASTE promotion is taking over Chicago this October. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, more than 200 of Chicago’s top restaurants and bars come together to raise awareness and support for local breast cancer research. All month long, participating eateries will donate proceeds from select dishes, desserts and drinks to help support the Lynn Sage Foundation. You can also add a donation directly to your bill. It’s that easy!

Proceeds from In Good Taste will benefit the Lynn Sage Scholars program for breast cancer research. Support from Chicagoans through programs like In Good Taste has helped Lynn Sage invest more than $1.7 million in research to date. And it’s only just getting started.

Cantina Laredo’s October special: Pink Guava Mojito

Angie Fekrat, Executive Director of the Lynn Sage Foundation, told us what to order this month and how we can continue to support this amazing foundation all year long:

DiningOut: What does it mean to you to run In Good Taste for another year?
Fekrat: We are incredibly proud of the Chicago restaurant community! Chicago boasts some of the top culinary destinations in the world, and for twelve years, those restaurants have embraced In Good Taste and fundraising for breast cancer research. The generosity of our 200+ partners and their patrons ensure The Lynn Sage Scholars program can fund talented breast cancer researchers in Chicago.

How do your forge these partnerships with Chicago’s chefs and restaurants?
We are fortunate to have cultivated long-standing relationships with many outstanding restaurant groups in Chicago.
We also try to keep the campaign simple. Running a successful restaurant is difficult. We want chefs and restaurants to be able to support and honor those affected by breast cancer, while maintaining focus on their craft.

What are some dishes we should be sure to try this month?
There are so many delicious dishes, it is difficult to choose! I’d start with the Beet Salad at The Publican or Clam Chowder at GT Fish & Oyster. Bucatini with guanciale, pecorino romano and calabrian chili at Café Spiaggia or the Bone-In Cowgirl Steak at Maple & Ash are also fabulous entrées. And, it is difficult to resist a Strawberry Cheesecake Bomboloni at BomboBar or Gemini’s Raspberry Mousse Bomb with pistachio cake crumble. And that’s just the beginning!

Aside from dining specials, what else do you have planned for In Good Taste this year?
We have so many wonderful partners for In Good Taste. Some, like Porter Kitchen, Tavern on Rush, The Hampton Social and Beatrix, also support our largest event, CHILL, on Thursday, November 14. Hosted by LuxeHome in cooperation with Wine Spectator, CHILL is a festive evening of bites and superb wines set in the beautiful boutiques at theMart. You can still get tickets here!

How can we continue to support Lynn Sage after October?
We welcome everyone to get involved in our cause: funding innovative research to improve the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. We invite everyone to attend one of the many events we host throughout the year, or simply visit our website to learn more about the brilliant Lynn Sage Scholars. Every contribution makes a difference!

Spiaggia

The easiest way to make a difference this month is to dine at one of In Good Taste’s restaurant partners. Aside from Angie’s favorites, these are our top must-try dishes for October:

  • At Spiaggia, a portion of the proceeds from their Tonno Vitellato (bluefin tuna, veal aioli, crispy caper, smoked wagyu) will go directly to the organization.
  • Every Sunday in October, Prime & Provisions will be offering bottomless rosé to its already premium bottomless drink options during brunch. And as you sip on endless pours of the dry and crisp Côtes de Provence Rosé for $20, you’ll simultaneously be contributing to the Lynn Sage Foundation.
  • You can also order the “Breast Friends” package at La Bodega! The package comes with authentic Mexican churros and BomboBar’s exclusive October Bomboloni flavor, Strawberry Cheesecake. The churros even come in the shape of the memorable breast cancer ribbon, with proceeds of each package to be contributed to the Lynn Sage Foundation.
River Roast
  • River Roast will be donating a portion of the proceeds from their Oyster & Rosé lunch and dinner combo to Lynn Sage.
  • The Raviolini Pera at Tuscany is delicious, beautiful and $1 of each order will go towards Lynn Sage’s efforts.
  • Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the Virtue Rosé on draft and Virtue Cherry & Virtue Michigan Apple Cans to the cause as well. Plus, pink koozies will be available for $1 purchase with 100% of the proceeds going to Lynn Sage.
  • Tanta’s Guapa Cocktail will benefit In Good Taste and is the perfect way to celebrate doing a good deed for an amazing Chicago charity!
