If you need an extra excuse to save room for dessert or treat yourself to a delicious baked good with your morning coffee, we have one for you. October is National Dessert Month, making it the time to sample some of Chicago’s best desserts and delicacies. Some are specials only available for a limited time, while others are there for you to return to time and time again. These are the best in Chicago sweets right now:

River Roast {315 North LaSalle Street, Chicago; 312.822.0100}

River Roast’s Adult Sundae Fundae is perfect for kids at heart who also happen to be at least 21 years old. The treat includes vanilla ice cream, whiskey cherries, pineapple rum, brûléed banana, allspice whipped cream, and spiked macaroon. Enjoy it on the riverside patio while you can, or get cozy at the bar this winter.

The Signature Room at the 95th {875 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago; 312.787.9596}

The Signature Room at the 95th has a decadent Pavlova, which is a gluten-free dessert of whipped mascarpone, fresh berries, raspberry coulis, and red currants. It’s the perfect sweet, light bite to have while enjoying amazing views of our favorite city from high above.

Next of Kin {625 Davis Street, Evanston; 847.563.8242}

Next of Kin’s Choix des Eclairs are almost too pretty to eat. As the name implies, you have the option of The Classic, Birthday Cake, Double Chocolate, or Lemon Meringue for flavors.

For those in the spooky spirit, Next of Kin has Halloween specials that any ghoul or goblin would love, and its autumnal offerings will give you all the cozy feels.

The Publican’s Peach Cannoli and Sugar Cream Pie are not-to-miss. The whole dessert menu is mouth-watering, so be sure to save room next time you come in for dinner. There are also plenty of dessert drinks—like The Publican Bourbon Cream—to be had as well.

Beatrix {various locations}

Beatrix’s seasonal pies and cookies are always a fall fan favorite! The team gets creative with desserts that can be ordered for catering, including the Oh My! Caramel Pie and Tall, Dark & Handsome Chocolate Cake, or simply picked up with your morning coffee. And with Beatrix and Beatrix Market locations throughout Chicago, you’ll never have to travel far to satisfy your sweet tooth.

BomboBar’s Bombos are always an amazing choice for your Instagram feed and your appetite, but this month has something extra special in store. Its exclusive October Bomboloni flavor, Strawberry Cheesecake, is in honor of their Breast Cancer Awareness Month partnership with local nonprofit, the Lynn Sage Foundation.
