Spring has officially sprung according to the calendar! But since not all of us get an official spring break from work anymore, Chicagoans will have to take advantage of the changing temperatures in other ways. This week’s top picks are all about new menus and locations to celebrate spring!
They were also featured in In the Mix, our monthly email newsletter, which you can subscribe to here.
 Rockit Bar

Spring menu at Rockit Bar & Grill

Starting this week, Rockit Bar & Grill {22 West Hubbard Street, Chicago; 312.645.6000}
introduced a new spring menu filled with new seasonal dishes and some old favorites you just couldn’t stand to see go, plus colorful new cocktails. That’s right, they’re calling all you Buffalo Calamari Cobblovers to step up to the plate and enjoy what you’ve been missing. Then there is also the Penne Pasta with braised chicken, Tot Casserole, and even more new creations sure to become future classics.
 Vertigo Sky Lounge

Outdoor parties at Vertigo Sky Lounge

Rain or shine, winter or spring, it’s always rooftop time for the team at Vertigo {2 West Erie Street, Chicago; 312.202.6060}. With both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a wide range of custom made cocktails based on your spirit preference, there is something for everyone. If you don’t want to wait for your cocktails, there are also Jump Passes that give people the option to jump the line (valid Friday and Saturday) for only $10. No one should have to wait for a taste of spring break! Continue to keep eyes out for special themed events or weekend yoga on the rooftop.
 Dolce Italian

Dining in or outside at Godfrey Hotel

When celebrities go on a spring break, they choose Ibiza or Tahiti, but when they come to Chicago (like Entourage’s Kevin Dillon or Food Network’s Jeff Mauro), they go to The Godfrey {127 West Huron at Lasalle, Chicago; 312.649.2000}. The hotel offers in-room and restaurant dining from Dolce Italian as well as IO Urban Roofscape. The placement of the rooftop patio helps it catch all those lovely first spring rays while you relax over a cocktail. But if you are waiting for those true summer temps, you can also order the famous Dolce Italian Tiramisù or other decadent options right to your hotel bed.

El Hefe Chicago

Hawks Nights at El Hefe

Spring is a great time for sports with baseball, hockey, and basketball all in season. The “super macho” taqueria is getting in the hometown spirit with $18 beer buckets during Hawks games. Then pair it with a Macho Nacho appetizer because beach body season isn’t quite here yet and everyone deserves pico do gallo and queso fresco in their lives. El Hefe {15 West Hubbard Street; 312.548.6841} also has killer margaritas if you want to plan ahead for Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
