St. Paddy’s Day is serious business in Chicago, and that means taking both food and drink seriously, too. While many Chicagoans will be heading to bars and restaurants across the city, we have you covered if you’re staying in. For the at-home bartenders, there are two easy cocktail recipes to get the party started before heading out to celebrate.
Irish whisky is known for its smooth finish as compared to other international whiskys, and as a result can be consumed easily throughout the day, either in cocktails or sipped straight. These cocktails are simple to make, delicious to drink, and really bring the taste of the Irish classic to the forefront.
Irish Espresso
A warm and fitting end to a meal, this is the Tullamore D.E.W. version of an Irish classic.
Add two parts Tullamore D.E.W. Original whisky and one part premium coffee liqueur to a mixing glass. Stir and pour into shot glasses. Top each with one part thickened fresh cream—not whipped—and garnish with coffee beans.
D.E.W. and a Brew
The D.E.W. and a Brew serves as an update to the traditional whiskey and beer chaser. Pairing the Tullamore D.E.W. with a single beer, such as a coffee-flavored porter or stout complements the flavors in both liquids. Top recommended beer is our city’s own Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout.
Serve one 12-ounce glass of coffee-flavored stout or porter alongside one shot of Tullamore D.E.W. Original.
