We hope you spent the weekend pampering and toasting your mothers for Mother’s Day, but now it’s time to head back to the work week. But don’t get the Monday blues! New rooftops, brunch menus, and more abound this week so you’ll have lots to look forward to over the next seven days.
Smack Shack Lobster Rolls
The newly opened, coastal-inspired seafood concept Smack Shack {326 North Morgan Street; 312.973.1336} offers award-winning cuisine and signature cocktails in a relaxed, almost seaside environment. Their whole menu is fresh and delicious, with a whole section coming straight “From the Boil,” but their lobster rolls are not to be missed. Try the Original or Connecticut Style tossed in lemon and chive.
NEW Kids Menu at Blackwood BBQ
Blackwood BBQ‘s Lakeview location {962 West Belmont Avenue; 312.487.4807} introduced a kids’ menu to its existing lineup of fast-casual barbecue and smoked meats. The Chicago-based restaurant chain is offering healthy, handcrafted meals for “families on the go” including their Mac N’ Cheese Please! and Hot Diggity Dog.
Drinks on The Terrace at Tump Tower
The Terrace at Trump {401 North Wabash Avenue; 312.588.8000}, the downtown Chicago hotel’s sophisticated outdoor dining destination, is now open for warmer weather. The urban paradise, located 16 stories high above the city, unveils a unique craft cocktail program, a new menu developed in collaboration with the culinary team at Sixteen and a refreshed appearance. The Terrace seats 200 and features newly installed fire pits for the evenings. Chef Devin Keller collaborated to conceptualize a new alfresco menu that includes Grilled Focaccia and Burrata Toast with heirloom tomato jam, Maine Lobster Roll, and The Terrace Kale Lyonnaise Salad with soft poached egg, bacon lardon, and fingerling potatoes.
AIRE Rooftop Opening
AIRE, located on the rooftop of the Hyatt Centric the Loop, {100 West Monroe Street; 312.236.1234} opens this Friday, May 13 for the summer. The 24th floor rooftop bar will feature signature cocktails and bar bites, and is perfectly located for Loop workers to stop by for happy hour with a seriously amazing view.
Weekend Patio at Public House
The Public House {400 North State Street; 312.265.1240} patio is officially open for alfresco dining all day long! Munch on table essentials, like Seasonal Guacamole and Deviled Eggs, and wash it all down with a chilled beer, housemade sangría, or a summer-inspired cocktail like the Razz 75, with Bombay dry gin, peach, lemon, cherry-vanilla bitters, raspberry, and sparkling wine. If you’re a weekend warrior, head over for a brunch in the sun experience that you won’t forget. The Blood Orange Mimosas and Loaded Bloody Marys have already started flowing in anticipation of summer’s arrival and are ready for the season ahead.
